The Founders
Dave and Barb Anderson, have presented thousands of worship concerts throughout America and around the world since 1975. In 2007 Dave called together some lay leaders, counseling professionals, and clergy and, together, they began to lay plans for what today is called Shepherd's Canyon Retreat, to provide counseling retreats for burned out and emotionally wounded church workers and their spouses. Since the first retreat in March, 2009, Shepherd's Canyon Retreats have served the needs of over 600 clients from America, Canada, Kenya, and Uganda.
Rev. Kevin Bueltmann - Executive Director
& Tawn Bueltmann - Executive Coordinator
The Bueltmanns (pronounced BILT man) gained first-hand experience with Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat when they came for a counseling retreat in February 2021. Kevin & Tawn have 4 wonderful grown children and a son-in-law who live in Ohio, Illinois & Minnesota. Kevin has served as a pastor/DCE/camp director in LCMS churches and camps in Montana, Nebraska, and Illinois. Tawn has served as a Lutheran teacher, Director of Music, & organist/keyboardist at many churches. She has also served as food service director at outdoor ministries, and as hostess for their guesthouse and car rental business. Tawn has also served in administrative positions at churches and camps.
Counseling Care Director
The SCR Counseling Care Director, Pastor Phil Lee, LMFT, has been a Lutheran pastor since 1981, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1999 (CA and WA). He received his B.A. from Seattle Pacific University (1977), his M.Div. from Wartburg Theological Seminary (1981) and his M.A. from University of San Francisco (1993), and has completed several years of doctoral studies in Biblical Counseling. He has served on short-term missions in Albania, Kenya, Mexico, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, and facilitated numerous workshops, conferences, and retreats, in the U.S. as well as Kenya and Ukraine. Phil is on the Clergy Rosters of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ and North America Lutheran Church. Phil is a husband (Carolyn), father, and grandfather.
