Since 1987, Kevin Bueltmann has served LCMS congregations and camps as a pastor, Director of Christian Education, and camp director in Montana, Nebraska, and Illinois. He now serves as Executive Director of Shepherd’s Canyon Retreat (SCR). His wife, Tawn—a former LCMS teacher—serves as Executive Coordinator. They have four grown children living across the Midwest.

Kevin and Tawn are musicians and songwriters. Kevin has led thousands of children, students, and adults in worship across churches, schools, and camps, and some of his original worship and children’s songs are sung around the world.

Kevin’s path to SCR is personal. In early 2020, while serving as a camp director and associate pastor at a Montana church that owned the camp, he also stepped in as vacancy lead pastor just as the COVID-19 pandemic began. After a season of pouring into others and neglecting his own needs, he was quickly burning out. Kevin and Tawn attended a week-long Shepherd’s Canyon retreat in February 2021, which he describes as “the beginning of my healing.” Two months later he completed a three-month online men’s course with Delight Your Marriage, which strengthened their already good marriage and reset rhythms of sabbath rest. He resigned from his church and camp role in February 2022 and worked remotely for DYM while continuing to heal.

One of the SCR therapists who worked with them recommended Kevin to SCR founder Dave Anderson. After prayerful consideration, Kevin and Tawn moved to Arizona in September 2022 to serve as Director of Operations & Marketing and Director of Hospitality. In October 2023, Kevin was called as Executive Director and Tawn as Executive Coordinator. Today they lead SCR in helping other ministry workers find help, hope, and healing.
